Students at Tabasco Elementary from Pre-K through 5th grade recently came together for a meaningful cause, using their PE time to raise awareness for childhood cancer.
Many of them dressed in yellow, the symbolic color for childhood cancer awareness, the students walked the school track in solidarity with children battling the disease. The event was organized through La Joya ISD, encouraging students to not only focus on their own health but also to show support for those in need.
The walk served as a valuable teaching moment, helping students understand the importance of community, empathy, and advocacy.
Students learned about the disease through a brief instruction time before the walk helping to make it a more meaningful occasion. Tabasco Elementary strives to foster a sense of kindness and compassion among its students, all while promoting healthy habits. Thank you to all students for your participation!
