Tabasco Elementary just got news that they were awarded a Project Fit America Grant, one that wil help improve the fitness equipment they have on site and provide new ways to engage students in healthful activities.
Tabasco Coach E. Hernandez applied for the grant, and Tabasco beat out several other schools in contention to receive the grant.
Coach Hernandez said "We were one of 10 schools to be awarded this grant, so it's a pretty big honor."
The equipment is slated to arrive in time for the Fall 2024 sememster. It comes along with a new PE curriculum which will be implemented over the next two years. Mr. Hernandez will be receiving training and consultation toward putting this new equipment to use.
Some of the equipment will include a horizontal ladder, pullup bars, parallel bars, a pole climb, and a vault bar outdoors. Indoor equipment will be weighted ropes, cups, and hoops.
The Project Fit organization is a national charity organization that works with schools and front-line educators to create new opportunities for kids to be active, fit, and healthy.
