Marshmallow Constellations

Tabasco Elementary School students participated in National STEM Day on Nov. 16, which included activites dealing with engineering, geometry, and science concepts such as gravity and magnetism.

Pre-K students got to experience geometric shapes using marshamallows. Kinder students explored the heavens through marshamllow constellations. First-grade students built marble mazes out of paper plates. Second grade students designed and launched breath-powered straw rockets. Third-graders constructed coffee filter space parachutes. Fourth-graders explored gravity and the physics of flight with straw hoop gliders and helicopters. similar to the first-graders, fifth-graders created a maze but this one utilized the power of magnetism.

National STEM Day is typically observed Nov. 8, but due to ongoing campus activities, Tabasco Elementary decided to delay it a week.
